frequently asked questions
Will I meet chores4paws?
Yes, its important that we both know and understand each other. I offer a free face-to-face initial consultation in order to understand your pets needs. This will also give you the chance to get to know me, and ask any questions you might have and find out how things work.
When are you available to care for my pet?
I work Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm. Weekend bookings may be available for regular clients upon discussion.
Do you do pet care out of these hours?
This may be arranged, but please call me to discuss.
I only require occasional care for my pet, not every week or every day, can you help?
Yes. I am happy to provide services as and when you require, assuming I have diary availability. I recommend that you give as much notice as possible.
Do you offer your services on the weekends and bank holidays?
This may be offered for regular clients, however this may impact the price structure, please contact me to discuss further.
What security measures do you have?
Your key will be kept secure and away from personal information and no key can be identified to any property. In the event of your key being lost or stolen we will advise you immediately. Your personal information will never be sold or discussed with any 3rd parties in accordance with the Data Protection Act.

Yes, I am fully insured to cover for:

- Dogs being exercised off lead if owners written consent given
- Pet minding
- Home boarding

Do I need to be home when you pick up my dog or come to care for my pet?
Most clients are comfortable sharing a set of keys with chores4paws to enable me to enter your home or collect and drop off your dog when you are not home. I am fully DBS checked, which is not a legal requirement, but I want you to be comfortable with me having the keys to your house.
What do I do if I need to cancel?
Please contact me by email or telephone giving at least 24 hours’ notice, otherwise charges will apply.
What do you do in case of an emergency?
In the unlikely event of an emergency, I will immediately call and notify you. In the original consultation, I ensure that I have all the emergency contact details. If veterinary assistance is needed, I will take your pet to your named vet or, depending on the circumstances, to the nearest possible one.
My pet has not been spayed or neutered, can he/she still be walked or cared for?
This can be discussed in the initial consultation, each pet will be considered separately but I reserve the right to refuse any pet.
Do your services cater for all breeds?
I take each pet on its own merit and not on reputation of particular breeds. I meet all pets before I care for them and each new pet is subject to a trial period. Any instances of aggressive behaviour will be investigated and I reserve the right to refuse to care for any pet.
How many dogs can you walk at any one time?
I believe dogs have more fun if they can play and interact with other dogs. Groups are kept small with up to a maximum of 6 dogs. Group are carefully selected with breed, age, sex and personality in mind and can be discussed with the owner beforehand.
Do you walk dogs off the lead?
I will only let your dog off the lead once I have got to know the dog and have written consent to do so. If your dog is not so good on their recall I prefer to keep them on a long lead and let them run and play in safety.
Do you arrange picking up and dropping off for walking dogs?
I collect your dog from your home/place of work at an agreed time and then return them after their walk. For group walks you may need to fit into the schedule for collecting and dropping off dogs which means your dog will be out longer than 30/60 minutes, but they will always be exercised for the agreed period of time.
Will my dog be supervised whilst walking at all times?
Yes. Your dog will be under constant supervision by me.
Where do you walk?
If you have a preferred place your dog likes to walk I will try to accommodate this. Otherwise, I will cater to your dog’s needs in a safe environment.
I don’t want my dog allowed off the lead but I am happy for them to walk with other dogs off the lead, is this possible?
This is possible, but I would prefer an extendable lead to be provided to allow your dog as much freedom as possible with the other dogs. This also avoids your dog feeling restricted and therefore lessens any tension between dogs.
Do you take bitches in season?
No. I’m afraid it is chores4paws’ policy to never take a bitch which is in season.
What happens if my dog doesn’t get on with another dog?
I carefully select which dogs will walk together, if I find an imbalance within the group I will switch accordingly and inform you of the decision. I want your dog to enjoy their walk.
My dog can be aggressive with other dogs and has to wear a muzzle, can you still walk him?
I will walk dogs that are aggressive to other dogs with a muzzle and only on a 1:1 basis.
My dog can be aggressive with people and has to wear a muzzle, can you still walk him?
No. It is chores4paws’ policy not to deal with dogs that are known to be aggressive to people.
We just got a puppy and we both work, what services do you provide for a puppy?
Puppies usually have to go out every 2-3 hours. I will come to your house during the day and let the puppy out, feed and interact with the puppy at agreed times. I will also be able to introduce them to socialise with other dogs, once they have received their vaccinations.
Can dogs stay with you?
I have a large kennel with a run on my premises for 1 large or 2/3 small/medium dogs for day care, but I do not have facilities for overnight accommodation.
What happens in bad weather?
We get wet and muddy!! I will clean and dry your dog off as much as possible. I do ask that you leave out a towel and if you have a hose, or bucket and sponge, that I have access to this when I bring your dog home.
What’s your method of transport for vet visits, doggie day care runs or to take the dogs to the walk location?
I have a fully insured van, which has professionally fitted travel compartments, and ventilation. Each travel compartment has removable soil trays for hygiene purposes. Cat boxes can be secure inside the cages to ensure a safe journey.
Can you administer my pet’s medication?
I am happy to administer medication for your pet(s), in accordance with your written instructions.
